The quantity of historic buildings listed on the National Register is increasing at an explosive rate. The Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster, PA awards the Ddora Foundation's annual Preservation Trades Summer Apprenticeships to its continuing students and recent graduates. Under the aegis of the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission apprentices work on landmark buildings and other architecturally significant structures where they perform a variety of preservation projects including carpentry, masonry repairs, and other general preservation maintenance activities. In this program they acquire hands-on experience about rehabilitating historic buildings.
